Online Radicalisation – Myths and Reality

Two of the most frightening aspects of the wave of terrorism that has swept across the globe are what appear to be the viral spread of extreme thinking through the internet, and the seemingly rapid appearance of radical attitudes in young people as a prelude to their terrorist involvement. Peter Neumann will bring his acute mind and unrivalled experience of engagement in this field to help us tease out the myths from the realities of ‘on-line radicalization’..

Professor Peter Neumann MA PhD
Peter Neumann is Professor of Security Studies at the Department of War Studies, King’s College London, and has directed the International Centre for the Study of Radicalisation since its foundation in early 2008. He also currently serves as the OSCE Chairman’s Special Representative on Countering Violent Radicalisation. His latest book in English is “Radicalized: New Jihadists and the Threat against the West” (a fully revised version of his 2015 German bestseller “Die neuen Dschihadisten: ISIS, Europa und die nächste Welle des Terrorismus”). He has authored or co-authored six other books and many articles and papers on terrorism. He is much in demand as an advisor and consultant to governments, the courts, the UN and other international agencies, and to the broadcast and print media around the world.
